Trunk Or Treat

Well it's taken me a little while to get this posted but last weekend we went to our first ever trunk or treat, I know amazing that we came from Utah and had never been to a trunk or treat before. This was the ward halloween party/trunk or treat. We all had a great time and Cody loved getting a jump start on the whole trick or treating thing. He is still looking forward to Friday night but he had lots of fun at the ward party.

Pumpkin Patch

Our little town here in KS has it's own pumpkin patch that we decided to try out this weekend. Wow it was so crowded, I think everyone in town had the same idea. We still had fun though. Cody rode the zip line, which he loved, I stood by gasping but he held on and had fun. We went out to the pumpkin field and tryed to find the perfect pumpkins, and Jake napped through most of it. We are very excited to carve our pumpkins this year, that is one of our favorite things to do for halloween.

Maple Leaf Festival

This weekend we did lots of fun things. We started off the weekend by going to the Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin, KS. It was packed and there was a lot to see. The streets are lined with craft booths and more craft booths, so needless to say I was having a great time. Cody hung in there while we made our way through craft city to the carnival. He had a great time riding all the rides. His favorite by far was the big slide, he rode that 3 times. I thought the little mini tidal wave was adorable and I made sure to tell him to get the seat all the way at the back, I wanted him to get his full ride experience. Jake had a nice stroller ride and babbled to all the people that would look at him. It was a fun day at the festival and I am sure we will go again next year.

I take so many cute pictures of the boys that it's really a waste not to share them so I updated the slide show that is usually at the bottom of the page and put it here for you all to enjoy! They are getting so big I can hardly believe it.

Poor Belle

Robert took the dogs hunting over the weekend and Belle just can't slow down. She ran through a fence, we think, I guess she was too far ahead of Robert and he really didn't even see what happened. She tore a big hole in her leg and we had to take her to the vet for surgery to get stitches. She is currently wearing a lamp shade because she keeps trying to take the stitches out when it's not on. It's pretty funny though because Belle is not that bright of a dog to begin with so when you add the lamp shade you better get out of her way. I think I am going to have to repaint the house when she gets it off, she just runs into wall after wall. We hope she has learned her lesson and will slow down from now on but I highly doubt it, like I said she's not that bright, bless her heart!

Dave The Turtle

We have a turtle that Robert brought home from work one day to show Cody. Cody named him Dave, after his papa Denney that he had just talked to that day on the webcam. Well I encouraged the realease of Dave so that he could be free to roam the wild like the other turtles here do. So later that night Cody and Robert let Dave go a little ways from our house and bid a fond farewell. A week or so ago Dave came back to say hello. We found Belle on point in the backyard and there was Dave. We had fun saying hello and feeding him grapes and then we once again let him go back into the wild. We are anxious to see if Dave comes back to visit again, we'll let you all know. I love the picture of Cody holding Dave, he looks so happy and excited but he was terrified that Dave was going to bite him. Now if I could get Robert to stop bring frogs home from work, not a big fan of the frog tank in my kitchen.

Funny

So I'm eating breakfast this morning and Cody tells me to come and see how far Jake rolled. He had rolled the length of the living room and was giggling to himself. I laughed with Cody and agreed that Jake rolled the farthest ever. Then Cody said, "don't pick him up, leave him there, I want dad to see how far he rolled." Apparently I was supposto leave Jake in that exact spot for 8 or 9 hrs, I think Cody's babysitting carreer may end before it ever begins!!

The Elk Hunt

Well we are back from our trip to Utah for the Bull Elk hunt Robert went on with his brother. It was a success and even though they had to track it straight up a very steep mountain side I think they would all agree that the memories were well worth it. If I waited for Robert to do this post it may never happen so I will try to do my best at describing the hunt. Robert's brother Jason drew out to hunt bull elk this year by his house in Heber, Ut. Robert and his Dad said that they would be there to help out in any way they could. Robert actually ended up catching the whole hunt on video tape and it was fun to be able to watch it with them. Our 7 yr old nephew Derrick went right along with all the men and was a trooper as he climbed the mountains with everyone else. I could tell how much it ment to Jason that Derrick was there to see the big elk in person and that he was truly a part of the hunt! I think they all had fun, even though they all say that Jason owes them big time for them packing out the various pieces of the huge elk, they did have a bunch of Jason's friends with them too and I know they were glad for all the help. I am going to let you all count the points on the elk because I don't want to get it wrong and I hate to say that maybe I wasn't paying that much attention when they said the stats of the fellow. There is much more to the story of the hunt, like how many times Jason shot and that it took a while to find the big guy but Robert tells it better then I could so maybe I will try to talk him into giving you all some more details. All in all our Utah trip was great, we got to spend a lot of time with family and friends and we tried to enjoy the mountains along the way. I will probably be posting some more pic's of our trip but I wanted this post dedicated to the reason for the trip!
