Cody's Swim Classes 2009

Tonight was the last night of swim classes for this year. We are all pretty glad that they are over. It wouldn't have been that bad if the water wasn't so darn cold. We were not aware that they do not heat the pool at all and most people try to get into the July sessions of classes when the pool has warmed up a bit. We'll know for next year. It usually took a lot of coaxing to get Cody into the pool at the beginning of every class, once he just took off running, that was fun. He usually ended up having fun though. He did pretty good in the class and learned his front stroke and kicking. I think he gained the confidence to be able to do lessons by himself next year. They have had the kids go off the diving board a couple of times but last time Cody tried two times and just couldn't do it but tonight he was so super brave and showed us all that he
could do it! He was pretty nervous and told the teacher "Um, I don't want to go under the water, Ok!?"

Getting lowered in, you didn't expect him to jump did you? Baby steps.

He was so excited that he did it! The teacher asked him if he wanted to do it again and he quickly said "No Thanks" We were very proud of him for being so brave.
We had told him that if he did good in Swim lessons this year that we would take him to The Great Wolf Lodge (it's a hotel with a huge water park inside it). On the way home he asked when we were going so I guess we better get that trip in the works!

More from Swim class

Cody was excited to get a last day of swim lessons popsicle and relaxed to enjoy it while waiting for the "Special Guest" to arriveYeah the Octopus has arrived!

Monster Play date

Today I hosted a Monster Play date for the SAHM's group that I belong to. I read the kids the book - Where The Wild Things Are - , I had monster masks for them to color and wear and they each got a monster tail to wear, you can see them in the picture below if you look really hard. Cody said it was the best day ever! He says that about 4 days out of 7 every week but hey I'll take it as a compliment anyway. I made monster cupcakes for them all to eat and they seemed to enjoy them. The Boys in their masks and tails

Cody was probably the most WILD THING of all

Omaha Zoo trip

Over the weekend we took a road trip to the Omaha, Nebraska Zoo. I had heard that it was a awesome zoo so we decided to take the boys for the weekend. We stayed at a motel by the zoo and Cody had lots of fun jumping on the beds and swimming the night before the zoo. The zoo was really impressive. It had a big rain forest building that was in itself better than the whole KC Zoo, it had a fun rope bridge that Robert managed to cross while carrying Cody. It also had a awesome aquarium that was probably Cody's favorite. He is really into sharks these days so he loved seeing them swim right over his head. We tried to see the IMAX under the sea movie, we saw about 30 min of it and then called it good, Jake didn't want to nap through it like I had hoped and Cody was terrified, it was in 3D and there were a lot of fish eating fish scenes, so we decided to let the people behind us enjoy the rest of the movie and we left. We saw lions, tigers and bears and a lot more and took a round trip train ride to top the day off. Here are some pictures of our weekend......
