Trying to stay cool

This weekend we went swimming at the pool and Cody learned the wonders of swimming with arm floaties or muscles as he calls them. After seeing a picture of Kaleo's little boy swimming with muscles he had to try it and he had a blast. We have been trying to get Cody to come to grips with his small fear of the water, he just doesn't like to get splashed and always hung on to us for dear life. With his muscles on he is a pro now, he thought it was so much fun and told us "Myself is very proud of me for being such a good swimmer", were glad he worked that out with himself. We had so much fun watching him jumping into the water like a big kid. Jake had fun to. I toted him around in his Baby Buoy water carrier and he actually ended up falling asleep in the pool, I guess it was that relaxing. We will be making as many trips back to the pool as we can get in this summer. We took a couple videos of Cody swimming and jumping in, going all the way under the water and coming up smiling, yeah we could hardly believe it either! Hope you enjoy them..... turn your speakers on.

Crown Center

We went into Kansas City this weekend to check out a few of the sites. We went to a place called Crown Center. It has a lot of shopping and some fun restaurants. We went to a restaurant that delivers your food by train, Cody thought that was pretty cool and he even got a conductors hat to wear. We also went to the Crayola store where Cody had fun drawing.

Bumbo Brothers

This weekend we got Jake a Baby Bumbo seat, it's suppose be the coolest new thing in the world of baby products, ya know like you really need one more baby accessory taking up space but he seems to like it. Cody thinks it's pretty cool and always wants him to sit in it. Cody made Robert go find his little chair that he use to sit in and he now has it right next to Jake's chair and Cody told us that him and Jake are the Bumbo Brothers!

Kansas City Zoo

The day after the 4th we went to the Kansas City Zoo for the first time. While we all think the Hogle Zoo has a much better layout we still had a lot of fun. It is a big zoo and there is a lot of walking, we didn't even make it all the way through before Cody wanted to go home. We saw a lot of fun animals and Cody had fun talking to them all. There was even a little spider monkey that was very interested in Jake. I think everyone's favorite animals for the day were the elephants.

4th of July weekend

We had a fun 4th of July weekend. Cody was so so excited for fireworks he could hardly stand it. In the afternoon we went swimming, which I had been dying to do all summer. Cody had fun playing in the water, jake got in for a minute but wasn't too sure about it so since we didn't get any smiles out of it and no pics I have decided that we are not counting it as Jake's first time swimming, so maybe next month we'll try again. Later that night we got a few fireworks and put on a little show for us and a few of the neighbors. It was quite loud in our neighborhood and Jake slept through the whole thing, he is such a good sleeper, yes I do know how lucky I am! The city's fireworks display was lit off at the High School right by our house so we had a great view right from our front lawn.

Homemade Play dough

Last week me and Cody had a play date at our house and we made homemade play dough. The kids had a blast and frankly so did the mom's. It is the easiest recipe ever and you don't have to worry about your kids eating it because although it probably won't taste too good, it is all edible. I do have to say thanks to Martha Stewart for the recipe.

Homemade play dough
2c. flour
1c. salt
1Tb veg oil
2 1/2 tea. cream of tarter
2c. cold water

Mix everything together in a sauce pan on med heat. Keep mixing until it is play dough consistency, about 5 min. Spoon out onto counter and separate into 4 pieces. Create a small well in each one to put the food coloring in. About 6 drops food coloring each. Knead dough until it is all colored.
Last weekend we got it out again and me, Robert and Cody made a play dough family, which I think is very cute!

While being a SAHM is the toughest job I have ever had, I really am grateful to be able to spend so much time with the boys. Before we know it Cody will be off to Preschool and Jake will be walking. I have recently joind a Stay at Home Mom's club and we have been joining in a lot of fun activites with them. We also have met some friends off of Cafe Mom and we have really enjoyed hanging out with them. Here is a pic of the 4th of July parade that we went to yesterday. Me and Cody decorated his trycicle for it and him and the other kids rode around the pond. Here he is with his new "best friend" Abby.
